Interface Guide and Terminology
This page explains the key terms and concepts used in the Glenrindle interface. Understanding these before you begin using the platform will make it easier to navigate and interpret what you see.
Terms used throughout the platform
The following terms appear in the Glenrindle interface and in communications from the team. Each term has a specific meaning within the context of the platform, which may differ from its everyday usage.
Information item
A discrete piece of information that has been ingested by the Glenrindle system and assigned a classification. An information item might be a document, a record, a structured data entry, or any other unit of content that the system has processed and stored as a distinct entity. Each information item has a type, a category, and an assigned position within the information architecture.
Classification
The process by which an information item is assigned a type and a category by the Glenrindle system. Classification is applied automatically based on the content and metadata of the item. The classification assigned to an item determines where it appears in the interface and how it can be filtered, compared, or reviewed. Users with appropriate access can query why an item was classified in a particular way through the enquiry process.
Information space
The collection of information items and categories that an approved user has access to within the Glenrindle platform. An information space is defined at the point of access configuration and reflects the agreed scope of the user's account. Users cannot add to or modify their information space without submitting an access update through the enquiry process.
Review mode
The interface state in which a user is actively examining classified information. Review mode presents information items within their category structure and allows the user to navigate between levels of detail. The interface does not make changes to the underlying information in review mode; it is a read-only view of the organised content available in the user's information space.
Access configuration
The set of parameters that define what an approved user can see and do within the Glenrindle platform. Access configuration is established during the onboarding process and recorded by the Glenrindle team. Users receive a summary of their access configuration when their account is activated. Changes to access configuration are handled through the enquiry process.
Enquiry reference
A reference assigned by the Glenrindle team to each submitted enquiry. Users should note their enquiry reference when following up on a previously submitted message, as this allows the team to locate the relevant correspondence quickly. If you did not receive an enquiry reference, you can re-submit your message or contact the team directly at [email protected].
The structure of the Glenrindle interface
The Glenrindle interface is organised around the information architecture assigned to each user's information space. The following describes the general arrangement of the interface as experienced by an approved user; the specific appearance may vary depending on the scope and configuration of your account.
Category navigation
The primary navigation of the interface presents the top-level categories of the user's information space. These categories correspond to the classification structure applied to the information in the user's account. Selecting a category displays the information items assigned to it, ordered by the default sort configuration (typically date, most recent first).
Item display
Within each category, individual information items are displayed in a list or grid format depending on their type. Each item shows its title or identifier, its assigned sub-category where applicable, and the date it was added to the information space. Selecting an item opens its detail view, where the full content of the item can be reviewed.
Detail view
The detail view presents the full content of a selected information item, along with its classification metadata: type, category, date of ingestion, and any sub-category assignments. The detail view is a read-only presentation. No editing or annotation functionality is available unless this has been specifically included in the user's access configuration.
Enquiry submission within the interface
Approved users can submit enquiries directly from within the interface. These enquiries are routed to the Glenrindle team using the same process as enquiries submitted through the public Enquire page. Users should include their enquiry reference in any follow-up communications to allow the team to respond efficiently.
This guide describes intended interface behaviour
The descriptions on this page reflect how the Glenrindle interface is designed to work. If you find that the interface you are using differs from these descriptions, this may reflect a custom access configuration, an update to the platform that has not yet been reflected in this guide, or a technical issue. Any significant discrepancy should be reported through the enquiry process.
